Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
I applied to NUS and NTU, and I mainly chose NUS Business School because it’s nearer to my house. But that aside, I am enthusiastic about the prospect of contributing meaningfully to the development of business and the financial world, and I believe that NUS Business School programs will be the key for opening that door. Therefore, I hope to be able to learn and grow in NUS Business School and build a solid foundation to prepare myself for future career paths.
What inspired you to choose your major in Accountancy?
My passion lies in the fundamental role accounting plays—whether it’s the meticulous creation of journal entries that form the backbone of companies’ accounts, the vigilant auditing work aimed at ensuring the risk of material misstatements stays within acceptable thresholds, or the strategic crafting of revenue and cash forecasts. These aspects collectively contribute to empowering management with the information needed to make well-informed decisions on company strategy. This also makes the modules and case studies covered in the course especially appealing to me because it gives me the opportunity to expose myself to the relevant accounting standards to the real world context.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
First off, use your first year to really dive into exploring where your passion lies. Don’t constrain yourself into one path too early – it’s totally okay to switch things up if you find something else that sparks your interest more. Other than that, I would definitely advise you to consider joining the Bizad Club. It’s a great way to get the full experience of Business School life, meet like-minded peers, and maybe even discover passions you didn’t know you had. The key is to stay open-minded and make the most of all the opportunities that come your way.

I went for Economics after having taken the Introduction to Economics class as part of the core curriculum under Business Administration. I found Economics to be a very interesting, relevant and intuitive subject and therefore decided to choose it as my major.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
Yes, so much advice. Research about the majors in NUS Business, whether you want to do a double major or not. Talk to your seniors for advice on which courses to take, how to plan out your semesters, whether you should overload or underload. There are so many mistakes I made because I didn’t really have a senior as a mentor and I know how much that could have helped me.

Class of 2024, BBA (Finance)
Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
I was convinced that an education with a university of global reputation and prestige like NUS was the right choice. I could also take advantage of the University’s Grade-Free Scheme in Year 1 to prepare myself for a smooth transition from National Service to university life. I decided to pursue an education in BBA because of its versatile and flexible curriculum. Offering a wide spectrum of nine business majors, the NUS BBA programme gave me a sense of assurance that my course of study will remain relevant in the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world we live in today. NUS’ emphasis on experiential learning also meant that I had the flexibility to take up a second major/specialisation such as Business Analytics which would complement my education with computing skillsets and broaden my career prospects.
What inspired you to choose your major in Finance?
When I was in your shoes 3 years ago, I was in fact more inclined to take on Medicine as my undergraduate degree. However having spent 2 years in National Service and having my first real touch with money, I realised my interest in investing and finance. I took a leap of faith by pursuing a rewarding career that allows me to pursue my interests and passions, and has never looked back since. While some might argue that Finance is very quantitative, very boring or even a materialistic career pursuit, I do find Finance to be more of an art than science. It is a career that offers a lot of flexibility and a myriad of jobs, which really has something for everyone. For myself, I chose Finance ultimately because of the opportunities it offers in the long run and how rewarding my career would be.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
My advice for juniors applying to NUS Business School would be first attempt to have a general direction on what you want to achieve at the end of your university experience, and it can come in many forms including a career in Finance, a well-rounded university experience, a strong network, a global education etc. It would be advisable to look into the courses and experiences offered by NUS Business School such as the modules that you may be interested in or the student exchange programme partner universities, and make a more informed decision when applying. Secondly, speak to seniors and alumni from NUS Business School to understand more about the culture and perhaps mode of teaching. For instance, would a blend of lecture/tutorial style and seminar style classes be your optimal mode of learning. Lastly, one of the most important skills whether in NUS Business or the real world would be being comfortable with speaking up. It would be extremely advantageous to master the art of expressing yourself and its benefits does not end with just class participation but also in the workplace.

Class of 2024, BBA (Leadership & Human Capital Management)
Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
NUS Business school stood out to me due to the global exposure offered. As a fresh graduate with a Diploma, I wanted to learn through people and their experiences from different countries instead of merely focusing on academics as these are the information that equips you with the necessary knowledge to survive in the corporate world.
What inspired you to choose your major in Management and Organisation?
The ambition to help employees who are working hard for their families/friends by solving real life problems for them intrigued me. As human resource professionals, you bridge the gap between the organisation and the employees. Moreover, you are involved in major organisational decisions, compensation structure or union dispute negotiations where you might have the major decision making authority in. So why not choose such a cool occupation?!
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
Be risk takers! NUS Business School has pushed me beyond my boundaries and to step out of my comfort zone to make decisions which I might not have made in 4 years back when I had graduated from Polytechnic. At the end of the day, there is growth only when there is change by making new decisions.

Class of 2026, BBA (Marketing)
Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
I’d like to split the question into two: Why NUS? and Why Business School?
Well, I chose Business course because I wasn’t really sure on the specific path/ route that I would like to go for in the future, and I feel with how general and lenient Business is in allowing us to explore the different specialisations in the first 2 years would give me ample time to decide. I know I wasn’t exactly a Science/ Arts girl so I decided to get a Business degree instead.
To answer the next question, why NUS and why not other universities in Singapore? To be honest, I did have a difficult time choosing between the 3 local universities but after hearing feedback and testimonials from my seniors, I was pretty much sold.
NUS offers a myriad of opportunities and different experiences for its students. Ranging from being part of the campus life, staying in one of the dormitories to being part of different student-led clubs that would suit our preferences best. There are also plenty of networking opportunities, conferences and helpful Bizcareer counsellors who would be ready to answer our endless questions.
I have been enjoying my 2 years in NUS Business School so far and I wouldn’t want to spend my university life elsewhere.
What inspired you to choose your major in Marketing?
After 2 years of exploration, I have decided to specialise on Marketing. I love how it allows you to be as creative as possible to solve a Business problem. The attractiveness of a product or a service depends on how it is being marketed. The stories you tell, etc and I enjoy coming up with different strategies to entice people. As a marketer, you are basically creating the image and branding of your company – which is highly crucial in the different industries.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
To my juniors applying to NUS Business School, I’d suggest for you to enjoy your university life as much as possible. Be involved in the school-wide activities because that’s when you will develop a greater sense of belonging to the community. Be fearless and try as many things as possible. Feel free to explore and take your time to figure out what you like or don’t like. Most importantly, enjoy the process!

Class of 2025, BBA (Operations & Supply Chain Management)
Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
My main reason for joining NUS Business School was the strong alumni connections that they offer. I was impressed by the strong list of alumni connections that NUS has delivered as well as the companies that were created due to the nurturing environment in NUS. Some examples include Carousell, Playmoolah and Moovaz. There is also the BizCareers team, a team dedicated to helping Business students along their career journey, which offers a great pool of connections with alumnus for guidance.
What inspired you to choose your major in Supply Chain Management?
Supply Chain Management has been a formidable industry in the last few decades and will continue to be a core in most companies. My personal interest is in Fast Moving Consumer Goods. Hence, SCM would be a great starting point for me to understand how big Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies work. It is also a great mix of analytical and practical understanding.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
I do! Make sure to boost your portfolio while you still have time and keep a look out for scholarships and apply for them early. One tip to impressing your interviewers is to demonstrate your interest in your course and the share about the impact you wish to have on your peers and students!

Class of 2025, BBA (Real Estate)
Why did you decide to embark on your journey with NUS Business School?
First, it would be the school life and culture that I get to be a part of. NUS has a vibrant campus life with lots of CCAs and activities to partake in and it is something I seek for besides the academic part of the school. Throughout every semester, there are tons of welfare such as giveaways and exam welfare packs — all of which I look forward to each semester!
Next, its the academic style of NUS that attracted me. Their module bidding system just makes sense — no bidding with credits or bid on a First-Come-First-Serve basis. Also, I feel that the S/U system is the best in a sense that it allows students to explore mods outside their major without fear of affecting your overall grades. I have some friends who took up French and others who took up Japanese so it is really up to one to utilise their S/Us.
What inspired you to choose your major in Real Estate?
The funny thing is that I actually chose and got into the Projects and Facilities Management (PFM) major first but realized halfway during my National Service (NS) that I wanted something more aligned with my interests. I have a cousin who graduated from RE and from him I was inspired to learn more about the industry — about asset management and property valuation which my course offers, so I ended up reapplying and making the switch. I wanted to learn more about the many things that occurs behind what most of us reside in and/or work in every day and I feel that RE offers such a learning experience.
Do you have any advice for your juniors applying to NUS Business School?
NUS offers a wide array of online tools that makes your student life just a bit better. Here we have NUSMods that allows students to learn more about modules offered, student reviews of each module and even enables you to plan your timetable for the upcoming semesters. Another one would be that of NUS-Optimizer which helps to optimise a timetable for you according to your selected preferences (such as number of free days, earliest/latest lesson possible, etc.).
