University Scholars Programme (USP)

The USP is NUS’ premier leadership programme that provides the multidisciplinary intellectual grounding to nurture the personal, intellectual and leadership qualities of promising students. It aims to create a close-knit liberal-arts experience for the select group to develop these qualities that are necessary to shape our cultural perspectives and national priorities, and to guide Singapore in this 21st century.  This programme is therefore particularly suitable for bright and ablest students in the NUS Business School.

USP is weaved into the four-year BBA/BAC Honours programme.

University Scholars must show consistently good performance in order to stay in the programme and to proceed on to Honours. University Scholars in the NUS Business School are not required to read the Business Communication courses offered by the School, as well as some or all of the regular University-Level Requirements (depending on the cohort).

All USP students are expected to fulfil a two-year commitment of living in the USP residential college (Cinnamon College) in their first year and one other. Our students enjoyed and treasured the camaraderie within the vibrant USP community.

USP offers students many exclusive overseas opportunities. USP students on overseas exchange may be able to map courses read on exchange unto USP courses, with USP office’s approval. Please refer here for the details.

USP students who completed the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) 12-month programme are deemed to have fulfilled two HSS and two ST Inquiry-tier courses (including ISC requirements).  For USP students matriculated in 2011 and before, their NOC experience would have fulfilled the USP Advanced Curriculum requirements.
